Another blog?

September 30, 2007

If a tree falls in the woods…

…and no one is there to hear it, does it still make a sound? Of course it does. Not only does it make a sound, but it makes an impact that anyone passing by can clearly see! Whether anyone heard the tree fall or not, the effects of the tree falling are evident and lasting.

That is kind of like a new blog in the blogosphere. Unless you are already a big deal, no one is there to read it. But hopefully it makes a lasting impact for anyone passing by to clearly see.

What is the purpose of this new blog?

In August 2007, God brought me and my family to Austin, Texas to serve the body of Christ and the greater Austin community. Specifically, we have been sent here to start a new church in Austin in partnership with The Village Church and Hill Country Bible Church NW.

This blog will seek to do several things:

  • To chronicle the journey that God has called me and my family to.
  • To communicate our hearts for God, for one another and the wonderful city of Austin.
  • To stir your affections for God, for one another, and the city of Austin.
  • To invite you to join us in prayer, financial support or as a co-worker in starting this new church community.
  • Lastly, to discuss mission, the church, God, Jesus, movies, books, adventures, family, community, our environment and anything else that seems worthy of writing about.

We are all busy, so I will strive to write well and not waste your time. It would be great to get some feedback, so feel free to comment or drop me a line sometime. If you are interested in what God is doing in Austin, then definitely contact me.

Suzy, I will definitely be posting both praises and prayer needs. I heard someone say that “prayer is not preparation for the battle, but it is the battle itself.” I tend to fight battles with the physical and mental abilities God gave me, rather than through consistent prayer. This is an area where I am seeking growth. You can consider that the first prayer request. Blessings sister.

Cassie, we have seriously missed you on several occasions as you are awesome to be around. We should go to Mozarts’ when you come down. And we discussed Cassie as an option. Although Hannah is a strong possibility. Peace out.
