This Blog
Contrary to what my wife will tell you, I am not all that remarkable. Parts of my life are pretty normal and parts of it have been extraordinary (for instance, I was on The Price is Right in 1990!). What is remarkable is what God has done in transforming my life by His love and His grace. That is pretty much what this blog is about. It contains thoughts on things I love, like God, family, the church, the world and Austin, TX. Over the next several months we will be starting a new church community in Austin. As a result, much of this blog will talk about starting a new church.

The Author (Just the basics)
I am a 36 year old husband, father, pastor, church planter and fan of Austin, TX. I love Jesus and am forever grateful to Him. I am married to Christie Vanhorn, who is a beautiful, amazing and patient bride. She is also a wonderful mother to our 2 year old son Caleb. Oh, and we have a daughter due January 2008!! And I am a little terrified to be having a daughter.

A Very Brief History
I grew up in and around Orange County, CA. In 1997 I moved to Dallas, TX to work for a Christian women’s organization. Yep, I am a dude who worked for a women’s organization, but let’s not get distracted. I moved around the DFW area for several years and I spent a year near Oklahoma City, but more on that later.

For the past two years we lived in Denton, TX while I served as the College & Singles Pastor at The Village Church. In August 2007, Matt Chandler and the Village sent me and my family to prepare to start a church in freakingly beautiful Austin, TX. What a great city!
